The annual Fort Ward event unofficially marks the start of the campaign season. The night before the event, members and families of 4th Coy met for food, drink, and fellowship. As in the past couple of years, turn out was strong and a good time was had by all.

Similar to the past, 4th Coy used the free time leading up to the skirmish to get in as much drilling as possible, concentrating on the manual of arms and doing whatever marching could be done. The skirmish this year was very lively, with rapid volleys and movement on the field. Spectators later commented that this year's event was the best in several years.

For the second year, 4th Coy participated in Alexandria, VA's annual President's Day Parade. In a switch from last year, 4th Coy fell in to the front of the 1st VA, leading them the length of the parade route. In front of the reviewing stand, both groups halted to have a short skirmish and fire off a few volleys. We also took the opportunity to stop at several other points along the route to fire volleys.
